I had a long commute for a conference this week and listened to several hours of one of my favorite encouragers, Joel Osteen.
One of his talks was about speaking victory into your life. It was very compelling.
It made me start thinking about how we speak to each other at home.
I LOVE how my hubby speaks to me. He calls me his rock star. It gives me a goofy smile every time.
To the world I am just a sassy Life Coach, but to him, lights, camera, and guitar riffs.
I tell him he is my favorite person. Occasionally I mention that he should remember this includes a world with Oprah and yet he is still my favorite.
He smiles. His eye gleams.
We are speaking love into each other.
If what we focus on expands and we attract more of what we think about, then speaking love on a regular basis seems like the most brilliant idea to me.
When you are speaking love that brings the emotion to the present moment, it creates the feeling of closeness right now.
When you are feeling close and connected what happens?
You feel good.
Did you speak love into you marriage yesterday?
The day before?
If so, good for you! Way to go! Keep it going!
If you didn’t. That’s probably why in all the universe, among the limitless amount of things you could be doing, you are reading this right here, right now.
This is not complicated, does not require a strategy, a plan or a mountain of deliberation.
Just start now.
With a compliment, a happy memory, the tiniest of good things – “The coffee was delicious”, “I love the way you fold a sheet,” “Damn that dimple reminds me of a movie star, I am so lucky to be married to you.” It felt good just writing those!
Your honey may smile or may or may not be in the mood to receive the love you speak at the moment you speak it.
Even though the love is FOR them, it’s not ABOUT them.
It’s about you. The life you want to lead and the marriage you want to have.
It’s about you deciding that you will be the person who speaks love into people, and especially the people you love the most.
It’s about taking emotional leadership over your relationship and saying, this is the way it’s going to be and it’s going to be awesome.
And whether your honey lights up or just nods and keeps mowing that lawn with those sexy thighs, it doesn’t matter.
Love has been spoken here.
I got goosebumps thinking about a world where we speak love into each other every day.
Can you think of anything more important to do right now?
This world needs love. Start speaking it into existence.
By the way, “You are an inspiration. Thanks for reading a blog about love today. I can imagine your eyes smiling right now and it made me teary eyed.”
That one was for you. You beautiful reader you.
Here is a thought to take with you this week: “I speak love into my marriage today.”
Now go do it.
