I believe that love can be simple.
I believe that marriage can be easy.
I believe that both love + marriage require thoughtful planning, in order to stay alive + well.
My worldview, swirled into three bullet-points:
: It’s time for women to start planning our marriages with the same delight + devotion that we plan our weddings.
: It’s time to recognize that taking care of your marriage is just like taking care of your health. Small, daily acts of love can prevent most forms of pain + suffering. Regular check-ups (and check-ins) are essential. And sometimes, you’ve just got to call in a professional.
: It’s time to stop labeling marriage as “lame,” “boring” or “constricting.” Not true.
Marriage can be a dynamic, evolving experience. With the right partner, anything is possible.

I recently got to meet one of my childhood Icons, Cristina Saralegui. I was beyond thrilled and honored to be invited to her show to discuss gay marriage. Many of her family members are gay so… it’s a topic close to her heart. The talk got a little heated when one of the callers suggested the only reason for marriage was to have kids and I replied, well I don’t have kids, should I get divorced?…The one point I tried to make on the show is that Divine Laws really are unchangeable – love, forgiveness, compassion – you can’t change that. All the other laws have changed as society has evolved. I am honored and humbled to have participated in such an important conversation.
