Also known as “Hey Maggie!…” [If you have a Hey Maggie! Question not included here, just hop over to the Contact Page and let me know!]
Hey Maggie! I’m not engaged or married. But I still want to work with you. Can I?
and
Hey Maggie! I’ve been following you for a while and I love all your marriage stuff, but I really want you to coach me on: _____. {My career, my-business, my career change, creating a Blog, Writing, my house remodel, this-huge-project-I-love-but-has-so-many-pieces-I-can’t-even-name-them-all…}
Do you do that?
Oh My Dearest Darling the answer to that is – it depends. Don’t you just love a nice beautiful shade of gray? Yup, I do too.
Sooooooo I totally love mentoring people and helping them become more of who they are. I get all riled up and excited, so while it is possible I could totally coach you on {your big fat juicy goal here}, it just really depends.

Of course. Actually, I want to TALK to you! I only work with clients who are Coachable, Committed and Decisive. I get the BEST results for those inspired action takers who are ALL IN and the best way to figure out if we are a fit to work together is to have a chat!

Hey Maggie! Do you work with couples? Do we call in at the same time? What about my husband or fiance?
As a Life Coach with a focus on positive psychology, I have a particular coaching philosophy. And it goes a little something like this:
When you change one element of a system, the whole system transforms.
When I work with brides + wives, they’re able to be open, honest + vulnerable in a way that might be trickier if their husband was sittin’ right next to them. We’re able to dive deeper, quicker — and solve problems, faster.
Then, my client can go back into her marriage — inspired and engaged in creating the life she really wants. Her clarity, self-trust + compassion rocks everything. She is the element that transforms the whole system.
Hey Maggie! Don’t make fun of me, but, um, what is a “Life Coach,” anyway?
Glad you asked! (I didn’t know either, until a few years ago.)
Read this run-down to find out what a life coach is (and isn’t), and how working with one can rrrrrock your world.
Hey Maggie! I am totally freaking out right now. I think I need marriage counseling – do you do that?
Life Coaching is not a replacement for therapy. Just like a vitamin is not a replacement for surgery.
My best suggestion for counseling, if that is what your are looking for, is to see if there is a Gottman Certified Therapist in your local community who can help you.
I teach and write about many of the Gottman research-based principles, so if you dig the stuff I write about, you might like their approach – probably, maybe.
Oh and while I am trained as a Gottman Educator – they don’t pay me to refer them, (unless you count electronic hugs). I just love their work and think their approach is solid.
Hey Maggie! What qualifies you to be a Life Coach and Marriage Mentor?
On the Gallup Strengths Finder Assessment my number one theme is Learner. That means I am the book-worm-nerd-geek who reads things like, “Marriage, A History” for fun. I have also taken countless workshop-retreat-seminar-trainings to help me develop my mindset, marriage skills and teaching abilities.
Basically, I’ve got a combination of professional expertise (as a human resources expert — yep, the conflict resolution + communication skills are shockingly transferrable), specialized training (as a certified life coach), and personal experience (married for over 10 years — still getting mistaken for newlyweds).
Are there people who are “more qualified” than me? Sure. “less qualified?” Totally.
But in my experience, when you’re looking for a mentor + guide, having a soul-to-soul personality click is far more important than credentials on a page.
In other words: if you think I’m going to be inspiring + helpful, you’re probably right. And if you don’t, you’re also right.
Hey Maggie! How did this whole ModernMarried thing get started?
Oh how delightful, I thought you’d never ask – read all about my story here.
Hey Maggie! I’m a dude — will you work with me?
I’m not a specialist when it comes to coaching + mentoring men — though if your name is Brad (as in Pitt), Gerard (as in Butler), or Channing (as in … wait, there’s just one) then I could make an exception.
Seriously, though — I generally refer dudes one of these colleagues of mine who specifically (and expertly) work with men. Their names? Aaron Anderson, Michael Hrostoski and Pedro Baez. They’re fab.
Check them out, and if you still want to work with me, I’m sucker for sweet talk. So hop over here and start talking…
Hey Maggie! How’d you get so awesome?
You’ll have to ask my BFF. Or my husband.
HEY AMBASSADOR OF AWESOME! YES, THAT’S YOU!
You have made it to the end of the FAQ’s. You have officially gained a level. You are now entitled to an Electronic Gold Star + a Totally Gratuitous Picture of Channing Tatum.
